Cerulean and Prothonotary Warblers may be heard on territory here, in addition to a number of other breeding woodland species. Cliff Swallows often nest on the bridges. It is also a good place to observe migrants and waterbirds along the Kalamazoo River.
It is accessible from Old Allegan Road on the north side, where there is a boat launch and outhouse. It is accessible from the south side, also from Old Allegan Road, near the town of New Richmond.
This site features a historic bridge that was previously open to vehicles, but now is restored for pedestrian use only, and an adjacent railroad bridge.
The boardwalk on the south side of the river (~350 meters long) is the longest trail. Crossing the bridge and checking both sides of the river is recommended.
