Ahern State Park covers 128 acres along Lake Winnisquam. The park is open all year and has trails for hiking and biking, and access to the lake for fishing and non-motorized boating. The park was transferred to the state in 1994 and renamed in 1998. 

The gate at Ahern is closed; however, the park is open and there is parking outside the gate with approximately a 5-minute walk to the beach. The park is not staffed and restrooms are not available. Due to the park being unstaffed, parking is available on a first come first serve basis.
