This is a 3.5 mile paved road that dead ends at Mitre (Mit-ree) Peak Camp. It is hardly ever traveled, and puts you out in the middle of the desert scrub surrounding the Davis Mountains. Great for sparrows, winter and summer. Scaled Quail, Lark Buntings, Painted Buntings, and one of the best chances of getting Scissor-tailed Flycatcher in the county. When the road turns north with the Mitre Peak Camp in the distance there is a gully that's great for Black-tailed Gnatcatcher. You can also take the dirt road west 0.8 miles to a private ranch gate. Thicker scrub along this road.
Mitre Peak is on private land and is inaccessible. Also going into Mitre Peak Camp is not allowed with out special permission.
