Fredericksburg, Texas 78624
Official WebsiteWhen you drive in turn into the first parking lot and park by the Purple Martin houses. There are stairs cut into the ground but pass them up and the next way down is an easier way to get to the bird blind. They have a great blind where you can see many different birds although it is only for two or three people at a time. After the bird blind drive down to the river to see ducks and wading birds.
The crown jewel of Fredericksburg’s recreational parks is the 330 acre Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park. Rolling hills and rambling Live Oak Creek set the stage for a beautiful day. It is a place to rest, relax and enjoy nature.
There is a one-mile walking trail along Live Oak Creek. A handicap accessible trail is about 500 feet in length connecting the bird feeding area and the butterfly habitat that continues along the Vista Loop Trail. The diversity of habitats includes lake, riparian woodland, post-oak savanna, and short grass meadows. A trail guide is available at the park office.
