The pull-off area on Aurora Lake Road is by far the easiest way to view Aurora Lake. There is a pull-off along the road with a short path leading out to the lake. It can be a little muddy, but it is generally not too bad. A scope is recommended, as it is a large lake and the birds are often distant. The view of the lake is looking south, so the lighting is not as dependent on the time of day and the position of the sun. The best time of year to visit is in fall through early spring, which corresponds with waterfowl season, dependent, of course, on whether or not the lake is frozen. Also to add to the possible number of birds, the pull-off is next to a patch of woods.
