Tips for Birding

Clymer Meadow is a Nature Conservancy property and is open by appointment only. It is a large Blackland Prairie located in Northwest Hunt Co. The roads the circle the edges of the property can be birded easily as there is very little traffic. Due to the restrictions and location it is seldom birded.  

Birds of Interest

In summer Clymer Meadows prairie  attracts typical prairie and edge birds like Red-tailed Hawk, Western Kingbird,Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Lark Sparrow, Barn Swallow, painted Bunting and Yellow-billed Cuckoo. In migration Bobolink, Mississippi Kite,  Orchard Oriole and Yellow-headed Blackbird. In winter Grassland sparrows like Vesper and Savannah Sparrows  along with Northern Harriers have been seen. On rare occasions Ferringous Hawk and Short-eared Owl have been located

About this Location

Clymer Meadow is 1475  Blackland Prairie  one of the few in this part of Texas. It was established for research and education. It contains some wetlands and upland prairies. Due to its isolation and being underbirded 118 species have been recorded on and near Clymer Meadow
