LaNana Creek Trail—Pecan Park

LaNana Creek Trail—Pecan Park

Tips for Birding

Birding at Pecan Acres Park is ideal on mornings in the spring. On days with good migration weather, migrants may arrive in mid or late morning. Check the canopies of the pecan trees and try to follow mixed flocks of passerines. Listen for chickadees and titmice to locate mixed flocks. Work the edges of the pecan grove, as some of the more dense woodland species like Blue-winged Warbler and Swainson's Thrush may be present here.

Listen for the "yank yank" call of White-breasted Nuthatch which are regular here. In Spring, look for a large Red-shouldered Hawk nest near the large bridge.

Birds of Interest

Neotropical migrants, especially warblers, orioles, tanagers, and vireos.
