About this Location

This is an active airport and visitors require permission from the airport manager. The birding area is near Gate 6 but first, you'll need to request permission to enter at the airport manager's office in the main building at Gate 2. Once you have permission, you can drive onto the road at Gate 6, which goes around the fenced-off runway and leads to some hangars on the far side of the airport. Upland Sandpipers and other grassland birds are typically found in the runway area or perched on the fences near the road.

The Brookline and South Shore Bird Clubs periodically run trips here that have special permission to access the runway area itself, which is normally off-limits.
