About this Location

Plymouth County Farm was established in 1914 as a county workhouse and poor farm, where inmates and indigents worked on the land in exchange for food and shelter. The farm produced dairy, poultry, vegetables, and fruits for the county institutions and local markets. The farm also served as a tuberculosis sanatorium and a hospital for the mentally ill. The farm was closed in 1992 and is now owned by the town of Plymouth. The farm is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in social history, agriculture, and architecture.
