West Roxbury Quarry is a large open-pit crushed stone quarry, over 300 feet deep, primarily in coarse-grained Dedham granite. The quarry was opened in 1889 by Thomas F. Welch (b. 1855 West Roxbury, MA). The business was incorporated as West Roxbury Trap Rock Company in 1903.
