Lower Damariscotta Lake is at the south end of the lake. Pond Road (ME-215) and Austin Road are adjacent to the lake in the area near Damariscotta Mills.

The lake covers 4,600 acres and has shorelines in Jefferson, Nobleboro, and Newcastle. Kayaking, canoeing, sailing, world-class iceboating, and swimming are a few of the many ways to get out on the water. Camping is available on Spectacle Islands
