Ned's Point (North and South Rivers Watershed Association) webpageSwim, picnic, and play in the shadow of Mattapoisett’s iconic Ned’s Point Lighthouse at this town-owned park and beach. With its large grassy lawn and rocky shoreline, Ned’s Point is a beautiful destination to enjoy a relaxing summer’s day on Buzzards Bay
The nearly 200-year-old Ned’s Point Lighthouse continues to aid boaters navigating in and out of Mattapoisett Harbor.
Officially known as “Veterans of Mattapoisett Memorial Park,” Ned’s Point is a hub of recreational activity on the shores of Mattapoisett Harbor. Take in a panoramic view of the harbor, Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod, and the Elizabeth Islands as you picnic, fly a kite, or play ball with your kids. You can also swim, lounge, or launch a kayak at the small town beach here.
The most recognizable feature of this picturesque coastal park is Ned’s Point Lighthouse, a 39-foot stone lighthouse built in 1838. Today, it’s one of the smallest active lighthouses on Buzzards Bay.
Habitats & Wildlife
Ned’s Point sits at the edge of Mattapoisett Harbor, where the sheltered inner harbor opens up to the outer harbor and Buzzards Bay. These waters are a hot spot for striper fishing, particularly in spring. Cast a line from the rocks at Ned’s Point or launch your boat from the nearby town wharf to fish
