Park at either parking lot and walk around. There can be raptors soaring on the updrafts from the dam and the landscape.

Tailwater area nearest the dam is a popular fishing spot, which may limit the bird possibilities, but there are a few spots along the road can be good for songbirds. There are a few spots where you can access the Salt River along the entrance road. There is also a small boat launch along this road that's worth checking. During warmer months, there is a canoe/kayak rental vendor that works this area.
