1240 Settlers Trace Road Taylorsville, Kentucky 40071
Stay out of the way of the boaters dropping off and trailering their boats; this is a busy boat ramp and marina. In winter, the area straight out from the boat ramp seems to be among the last places in which Taylorsville Lake freezes, so this is probably the best place to look for waterfowl when the lake begins to freeze. There won't be boaters or fishers then, so you can stop where you like and scope the open water for waterfowl, loons, and gulls. In warmer months, birding is more difficult for lack of parking, and the amount of boat traffic in this area. It's still worth a visit for swallows, roosting vultures, soaring eagles, and for seasonal "storm birds."
See the eBird links on this page. Scan the open water for waterfowl, loons, and gulls. Check between the boat slips for grebes, coots, and ducks. All the expected swallows can be found here, sometimes all on the same checklist.
"Settler's Trace Marina" is a seasonally busy commercial property and the boat ramp is often with a queue of boats during warmer months in particular. Stay out of the way of boat traffic and park only in automobile parking spaces (i.e., never take up a vehicle/trailer parking spot during these times of year). Rest rooms may not be available year round and outside business hours.
