Tips for Birding

This tiny pond, surrounded by trees on one side, attracts Hooded Mergansers in late fall and winter. It is, however, a difficult pond to bird because of the lack of parking. Sometimes one sees the mergansers while driving by on Aguajito Road, but to look for most other birds, one must park at the Monterey Peninsula College campus or elsewhere nearby, and walk to the pond. Busy traffic is an annoyance and a danger, so be careful.
