This can be a good place to find Gray Vireo and Scott's Oriole in spring and summer. Wintering sparrows and bluebirds may also be prevalent.

About this Location

The Humboldt Mountain Road is a narrow but paved road, albeit rough in spots, leading to the top of Humboldt Mountain. There is little traffic but it may require some maneuvering if meeting someone. 

About Seven Springs Recreation Area

From Carefree, take Cave Creek Road/Forest Road (FR) 24 for 18 miles north to Seven Springs. The last 9 miles of FR 24 is an all weather gravel road. The gravel portion of the road is narrow with blind curves.

There are several birding areas in this general area and the entire area is subject to flash flooding. The picnic area has been closed for several years because of flooding. Restrooms are available at the campground.
