Birds of Interest

Ocean Point is a place where sea ducks and seals frolic. In summer, Common Eiders, Common Loons, Black Guillemots, and Double-crested Cormorants are normally within view. In winter, scoters, grebes, and occasional alcids join the resident eiders. Ocean Point has been a place to spot a rare King Eider in winter over the years, and it has produced more than its share of sightings of Rough-legged Hawks and Snowy Owls.

About this Location

Ocean Point lies at the end of ME-96 in East Boothbay. The point overlooks several islands and lighthouses. There is a small walking path on the left that enables more exploration of the point.

Expect to share the point with tourists, due to the extraordinary scenery. Parking is limited and private property must be respected.

Directions: Follow ME-96 to the end. Though the point marks the end of the route, the streets around the west side of the point rejoin ME-96 in a loop. Park only where permitted.
