About this Location

Hamilton Pond is located on Mount Desert Island near the village of Salsbury Cove. It was created in the early 1900s when Stony Brook was dammed for agricultural purposes. The pond is shallow and full of aquatic vegetation and tree stumps, making it a good habitat for warm-water fish species. The pond has a carry-in launch site for small boats off the Crooked Road causeway.
