Perkins Park has scenic views of the Merrimack River and the nearby Custom House Maritime Museum. Perkins Park is named after Thomas Handasyd Perkins, a prominent merchant and philanthropist who donated the land for the park in 1835. Perkins Park is a part of the Newburyport Historic District, which preserves the rich architectural and cultural heritage of the city.
