About this Location

Small village, the southernmost in the Faroe Islands. No grocery store (any longer) or other shops. One of the best birding places in the Faroes, probably because of it peripheral location, picking up migrants coming from the south in the spring, and being the last possible resting place for 300 km for migrants coming from the north during fall, and birds blown in during storms. Relatively sheltered. Rareties may show up both on the sea (e.g., a female Steller's Eider wintered in this area from approx 2015 to the time of writing (2024)), along the shore, and in the gardens. Stick to the roads and paths, and do not enter gardens and fields.
