From the North parking area walk South and turn West across the bridge. Continue along the lake which turns west until you reach the main road (Adam’s Darry Parkway), turn around and return to the North parking area. The return walk is often better than the first half, it is quieter than waking around the lake. It is a little more distance, about 3 miles and if you are birding 1.5 to 3 hours.
Nesting Prothonotary Warbler, Solitary Sandpiper, Sora Rail, Kingfisher, migrant species.
Large lake, fenced dog exercise area, over four mile paved trail with resting benches. When partially frozen it is very good for waterfowl. Nesting area for owls. Many other species nest as well. The trail is a way to see these while taking a leisurely walk. There is a parking lot North of the lake on E Duncan Road and one on the dam along I-70.
Paved walking trail all the way around the lake about 2.7 miles.
