Lake Jacomo Marina

Tips for Birding

Don't miss this area. Take a drive around the parking lots, down the ramp to see what is going on. Walk around the point. Look from the shelter to see what in on the lake.

Birds of Interest

Loons, Grebes, Ducks, Gulls in the winter. Orioles, tanagers, flycatchers in the summer. All during migration.

About this Location

With boat ramps, concession, and rental activities this area has given me many surprises over the years. My first Ross"s Goose waddling around the parking lot, several Loon species, multiple Grebe species, lots of duck species and Scoters. The long views from the boat ramps over the lake are great. In the winter when the lake freezes this area stays open congregating waterfowl for an easy view. It is surprising how busy areas seem not to disturb migrating birds with sparrows, warblers, thrushes, flycatchers and woodpeckers turning up around the parking areas, gulls flying just off shore and large flotillas of ducks farther out on the lake.
