Explore the gardens in the back, scan the livestock areas across the street by the large saguaro cactus, and the large trees in the parking area.
The most reliable spot in the county for Phainopepla. Also good for species such as Hooded and Scott’s Oriole and Cactus Wren. Has produced a few good migrant species as well.
Open 8:00 - 4:30. Bathrooms are available only when the facilities open and located in the back of the main building. Highway rest area with typical pamphlets for things to do in the region along with some historical exhibits inside and recreated buildings related to Judge Roy Bean outside. The main birding attractions are the large landscaped areas behind the entrance building to include a large native cactus garden and butterfly garden. At times it can be full of mosquitoes but most of the time they are not an issue.
