About this Location

From Sedalia, go south on US 65 9 miles, then west (right) on Manila Road 1.5 miles.

In 1969, Friendly Prairie, a remnant dry-mesic chert prairie, was the Missouri Prairie Foundation’s first purchase.  MDC assumed management responsibilities in 1977.  The name comes from the site’s early use as a resting stop by travelers.

305 native plant species, including the federally threatened Mead’s milkweed (Asclepias meadii), and four state-listed species of conservation concern have been found here.
