Hundreds of Common Eiders all around the year. Common wintering site for Oystercatchers (most migrate), Grey Herons (youngsters from elsewhere), Eurasian Curlew (unknown whether these are from the few local breeding pairs or are migrants from Scandinavia or UK), but as the area is small, there might be only from a handful to a few tens of them in the local area.
The narrowest area of the sound between Streymoy (westside) and Eysturoy (eastside), with the "bridge over the Atlantic". Hard currents at times, north- or south-going depending on the tide. The area on the westside just north or south of the bridge is being "developed", with draining and walking paths on the southside and probable site for mobile campers on the northside. This is likely to affect the birds in the immediate area.
Note that the area around Norðskála (Oyrar) Church on the northeastern shore is considered a distinct hotspot.
At the moment, the best parking possibilities are just north of the bridge on the Streymoy side. Narrow pavement across the bridge. Telescope might be an advantage due to potential long distances.
