Park at the parkette and walk back to the causeway where Harrington Bay to the north and the east end of Scollard Bay to the south can be scanned for waterfowl and other waterbirds. The network of residential streets can be driven slowly (note that there is no public parking or other areas to park a vehicle), cycled, or walked. At the west end of Hillside Dr. at its intersection with Lakeshore Blvd., there is a green space with a relatively unobstructed view of Scollard Bay. Scan from the roadside, as this green space is private and access is restricted to Emerald Isle residents.
Waterfowl in the offshore waters and a variety of landbirds within the residential community.
Emerald Isle is a private residential community on Emerald Isle in Buckhorn Lake. It is connected to the mainland by a short causeway at the north end of Emerald Isle Rd. At the west end of the causeway, just east of the intersection of Lakeshore Blvd. and Hillside Dr., there is a small, public parkette with manicured lawns and several picnic tables. There is a network of residential streets on Emerald Isle proper, but no public water access. There is room for several vehicles to pull off at the parkette, but no parking elsewhere in the community.
