Labor In Vain Road is parallel to the Ipswich River and crosses Labor In Vain Creek near the confluence with the river. The road was named after a legend that says a farmer tried to dye his sheep's wool on the riverbank, but the dye washed off in the water. The road was part of the route that Paul Revere took on his famous ride to warn the colonists of the British invasion.
