The Beech Hill Trail provides a short loop walk along the ridge of a 180-acre wooded hillside preserve.
The lower section of the loop traverses the steep side of the hill and will challenge most walkers. The upper section of the loop follows the gentle grade of the ridge top and provides a flatter area for a relaxed stroll. At the far southern end of the loop (accessible from either direction), Sunset Rock provides an outstanding view across the Keene valley, especially at sunset.
Parking is located along Chapman Road 0.3 miles south of Roxbury Road. Watch for the metal gate on the west side and park along the road shoulder nearby, but do not block the gate. The paved road behind the gate leads to the cable television towers on the ridge top and provides access to the loop trail.
The TrailFinder website has a description and map of a hike at Beech Hill Preserve.
