Muscongus Sound

Muscongus Sound

About this Location

Muscongus Sound is located on the western side of Muscongus Bay, between Louds and Hog Islands on the east and the mainland on the west. It is about 0.5 miles wide and 5 miles long and has several rocks and ledges near its southern entrance, some of which are marked by buoys. The sound is a popular destination for paddlers, who can explore the shoreline and harbors, admire the scenery and wildlife, and visit the historic Hog Island and the Todd Wildlife Sanctuary, home of the Audubon Nature Study Camp.
