Whately Wildlife Management Area covers steep rolling hillsides of the upland forest made up of transitional hardwoods (maple, oak, birch) mixed with white pine and hemlock. Ground Brook originates in the central part of the property and flows east towards West Brook.

No parking area exists but the property can be accessed from Williamsburg Road and Webber Road. Williamsburg Road is blocked about 100 yards west of the intersection with Webber Road but it can be accessed on foot.
