Smith College is a private women's liberal arts college founded in 1871 by Sophia Smith as one of the Seven Sisters colleges. Smith is known for its open curriculum, academic rigor, and diverse student body. Smith's campus is a natural oasis, with a lake, a waterfall, wooded trails, and an arboretum that showcases over 1,200 species of plants. On campus are Smith's Museum of Art and Botanic Garden, the latter designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
