About this Location

Ludlow Reservoir was built in 1877 and serves as a public drinking water supply for Springfield and Ludlow. The reservoir is open to limited public access for recreational activities such as fishing and walking, but there are strict rules and regulations to protect the water quality and the wildlife.

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission opened the Ludlow Reservoir area to limited public access. Please note that this area is different from a park; it is a public drinking water supply.

The Ludlow Reservoir public access program schedule varies seasonally throughout the year. The Ludlow Reservoir is open 6 days per week, Thursday through Tuesday. The reservoir is closed on Wednesdays for maintenance activities. The Reservoir is also closed for three holidays every year: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
