A small area of Scotch and short-leaf pines planted in the mid-1950s is reached easily along the Old Quarry Trail. Crossbills were present here in 2007.
Directions: From I-35, Exit 48. Turn off the exit ramp onto Hwy. 69. Turn left at Hwy. 121. Park is about 2 miles from I-35.
Paved road, several parking options. 6-acre Lake Allaman. Forest and old field habitats create an attraction in a heavily farmed region. Four trails (.75 to 3.5 mile lengths with short-cut options), mostly in west half of the park, intersect with paved road at several points.
