The Belchertown Land Trust Recreation Trail is a project that aims to preserve and restore the former railroad corridor that runs through Belchertown. The trail offers recreational opportunities for hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The trail is also a valuable habitat for plants and animals and connects to other conservation areas in the region. The Belchertown Land Trust is a nonprofit organization that has acquired and donated several parcels of land along the corridor to the town and works with other partners to maintain and improve the trail. The trail is part of the larger Massachusetts Central Rail Trail, which will eventually span 104 miles from Boston to Northampton.
The Belchertown Land Trust Recreation Trail is a section of the Massachusetts Central Rail Rail that crosses MA-181 south of Belchertown.
