Tips for Birding

This is a University of California, Berkeley, research facility. Long-running studies of Acorn Woodpecker and Western Bluebird biology, ecology, and population structures have been on-going for decades. It is not generally open to birders, but one can make reservations on line (see link above) if you have a research purpose. Occasionally, in the last century, Monterey Audubon had offered field trips to Hastings, but that has not occurred in some time.

Research who are staying there and undertaking research use this Hotspot to enter birding observations. A researcher there has also entered a lot of historical data from Hastings NHR into eBird, provided a peek into the past as far back as the 1940s.

Birds of Interest
