There is a north-bound and a south-bound rest area so one may stop going either direction to use the nice restroom facilities and stretch one's legs by walking and birding a bit. 

The habitat is good for finding South Texas specialty birds since pockets of South Texas thorn scrub were left throughout the rest area. 

Depending on which way the sun is, one may bird from either the east or the west side of the habitat.

When these rest areas were installed, the local South Texas thorn scrub vegetation was retained in interior pockets, providing great opportunities for finding some of the South Texas specialty birds.
