The Salineño dump road, also called the "Salineño shortcut" connects the dump area of the colonia to FM2098. The habitat here is more arid than in the riparian area of Salineño, with thornscrub and cactus. Birders look for Black-tailed Gnatcatcher, Scaled Quail, Black-throated Sparrow, Curve-billed Thrasher, Cactus Wren and Verdin here.
