Nesting species include Mississippi Kite, Carolina Chickadee, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, and House Wren. In winter -time American Tree and Harris's Sparrow may be found.
Perryton is about 120 miles Northeast of Amarillo. To reach Wolf Creek Park drive south from Perryton on US 83 about 13 miles, then east on the county road aout 5 miles to the park entrance. Lake Fryer, int middle of the park, was built for the purposes as Lake Marvin. Facilities are available for camping, picnicking, swimming, and fishing, and there are restrooms and a grocery store. There is an entrance fee.
The heavily wooded valley along Wolf Creek contrasts sharply with the typical High Plains habitat surrounding it.
