There is a gravel pull-off a short way past the quarry where you can park and then walk back to get a better view of the water by standing on the grass beside the road. I have pulled over on the grass shoulder in direct view of the open water for a quick scan and haven’t had a problem, as it is not a heavily traveled road. It is a pretty good spot for waterfowl in migration and winter, and there are a couple of resident Eagles that can be seen fairly reliably.
Please, use care not to block the road while birding in this area.
