Lanes Cove is a small inlet on the northwestern shore of Gloucester. It is a popular destination for kayakers, anglers, and photographers. Lanes Cove was once a busy fishing port, but now it is mostly a residential area with a few historic buildings. The cove is also home to a granite breakwater that was built in the late 1800s to protect the harbor from storms and ice.
There is a public landing at Lanes Cover managed by the City of Gloucester.
