About this Location

Lock & Dam Road runs parallel to the Augusta Regional Airport (also known as Bush Field) beginning at Doug Barnard Parkway and ending at the entrance to the New Savannah Bluff Lock & Dam Park. To the north and east it abuts wooded forests within Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. To the south and west, the habitat is open fields of the airport. The Richmond County Sherriff's Office and the airport are familiar with birders and plane-watchers frequently parking on Lock & Dam Road for observation. However, vehicles must be parked completely off the road and may not block any airport gates.
