This is an important fresh water stopover point for migratory birds in the spring and fall. I have seen a rattlesnake here so watch where you put your feet.
During migration you can see many different warblers. Year-round you will see flyovers of Gulls, Pelicans and Cormorants. You may also see Herons and Egrets along with Killdeer and Grackles. There have been 266 species of birds seen in this very small spot.
Turn off of Hwy 361 at the entrance to the Sandpiper condo. Drive a short distance until you see the very small wooded area next to the tennis courts. There is a small parking lot to park in. If you get to the condo parking lot you have gone to far.
