Longview Lake--Eastern Bluffs

About this Location

Longview Lake--Eastern Bluffs is one of seven hotspots that have been recognized on Longview Lake Park, managed by Jackson County Parks and Recreation. An overview of the lake and a map of the park can be found in the Longview Lake hotspot description. The Eastern Bluffs hotspot is located at Shelter 1. To get to Shelter 1, drive west on Longview Road from the junction of View High Drive and 3rd Street in Lee's Summit. At 0.4 miles, there is a gate. If it is unlocked, continue another 0.2 miles to the Shelter 1 parking lot. If the gate is locked, parking is available at the lot for the Frank White, Jr. Softball Complex on the south side of the road. The shelter can be reached by a 1/4 mile walk. From the shelter, a mowed corridor provides access to the lake shore and views of the lake for waterfowl viewing. West of the shelter access road, Longview Road is gated and not maintained. However, it can also be walked to the edge of the lake.
