Early morning or evening visits are best when bird activity is likely to be greater and the noise from the nearly constant traffic on Hwy 7 may be somewhat less.
A good variety of marsh and shrub thicket wetland species may be encountered including Common Gallinule, Least Bittern, and Pied-billed Grebe.
This hotspot is a small (2 ha) cattail-dominated wetland with a smaller central pond on the east side of N Esson Line; an alder-willow shrub thicket swamp is found on the west side of the road. N Esson Line is a dead-end road that extends only around 250 m N of Hwy 7 and effectively serves as the driveway for the three residences at its north end. There is room to pull a vehicle to the side of N Esson Line, but be sure not to impede local traffic. Parking on the shoulder of Hwy 7 is not recommended. Land on both sides of N Esson Line is private and should not be entered.
