Tips for Birding

There is usually a large gull and tern flock at the base of the jetty, particularly of dog walkers haven't scattered them. The flock usually contains a number of Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Walking the jetty can get you very close looks at Least Sandpipers, Ruddy Turnstones, and Sanderlings. Time spent on the end of the jetty can yield scotors, Northern Gannet, and Bonaparte's gull in the winter, and Magnificent Frigatebirds in the summer. Note one must be patient looking for these birds from the jetty, be prepared to spend some time there to get these good birds, Walking out and back usually won't get the seabirds.
