The large pond and associated wetlands in this section, between the stone fountain and the soccer fields, have hosted a good number of interesting birds. American Bittern, Sora. Virginia Rail, and some shorebird species have been found here. When the fields in this section are allowed to grow up, a wide variety of birds use these habitats; but sometimes management decides to mow everything.
