Quite a variation of habit's, but only small areas. Bird the stock pens along the road into the location, Shorebird and duck habitat if the area is wet. The area is often not well kept but it has short trails worth birding, especially in the spring. There is a small dock which is a good place to sit quietly and watch for shorebirds, rails, sparrows, and warblers. Drive the roads around the area to look for prairie and open field species.
Shorebirds, Blackbird species including Yellow-headed and Brewers, Sparrows, Warblers, Ducks, Flycatchers, Larks, Thrushes, Wrens, occasional pipit's & longspurs.
The area is not really wheelchair accessible, but if you are adventurous the dock has a paved walkway to it. It is a good place to set quietly with views of several types of habitat. I see many species from it. Sometimes you have to watch out for poison ivy and animal droppings. There is a gate on the dock as well.
There is an out house but it is never clean.
Roadside viewing on roads around the area is essential for the broadest number of species.
Access is not available on weekends or after 4:30 P.M. If you are too early you may have to do some roadside birding. You could visit Fort Osage which in near by.
