Tips for Birding

If you are birding both the Woodland Acres Hydro Corridor Trails and University Heights Park, it is recommended that you start a new checklist when you pass from one area to the other, as they represent very different habitats.

About this Location

This hotspot consists of the hydro right of way that stretches from Carnegie Avenue in the southwest to Hetherington Drive to the northeast. The area can be most easily accessed from Woodward Avenue in the Woodland Acres subdivision.

One access point is via Woodland Acres Park, a small neighbourhood park at 242 Woodward Ave. with an accessible play structure a sheltered picnic area. The park entrance is on a corner, so exercise caution parking in the area.

Another access point is via a right of way at 276 Woodward Avenue which passes close to a fenced storm water management pond.

Notable Trails

Unmaintained trails/paths crisscross the corridor. There is a crude, steep trail near the storm water management pond which connects with the University Heights Park trail.
