This small park is certainly worth a brief stop but does not otherwise qualify as a destination birding spot. Its merit as a hotspot is that it affords public access to the otherwise largely private shoreline of the Indian River.
Still rather poorly known, the site likely hosts many more species than currently known. A variety of waterbirds has been observed at this site and the shoreline shrub thickets and stands of white cedar offer potential for migrant passerines.
Back Dam Park is a small, municipal park on the Indian River just to the east of the village of Warsaw. It can be reached by driving northeast on Rock Rd around a kilometre from its intersection with South St (CR 4/38). Administered by the Township of Douro-Dummer, this day-use park has a small parking area, boat launch and picnic shelter. It fronts on the Indian River which at this location is relatively shallow with a moderate to slow current.
