Drive or walk as much of this area as you can. Be sure to also check trees lining the perimeter. Cars make and excellent blinds here and slowly driving can keep flocks of finches, flickers, sparrows, and juncos from flushing as quickly.
Hawks, Northern Flickers (yellow-shafted, red-shafted, and hybrids), Dark-eyed Juncos (Oregon, Slate-colored, Pink-sided, and Gray-headed), sparrows, warblers, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets, bluebirds (Eastern, Western, and Mountain), Townsend's Solitaire, woodpeckers, kingbird, Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, Towhees, Meadowlarks, Cedar Waxings, owls, nightjars, robins, finches, blackbirds, grackles, and doves can all be found in the right seasons.
Thanks to its trees, proximity to water (Canyon Lake 6), and nearby parks, this location can be quite birdy and rarities are found fairly regularly. Spring and fall migration and winter offer the greatest variety of birds. The office on site does have restrooms during business hours.
